Anthropic released Claude Fable 5, a “Mythos-class” model the company says leads nearly every benchmark in coding, knowledge work, vision, and science. In testing, Stripe used it to migrate a 50-million-line codebase in a day, work Anthropic says would otherwise have taken a team over two months. Fable routes risky cybersecurity and biology questions to the older Opus 4.8, which happens in under 5% of sessions, while a less restricted version, Mythos 5, goes to government cyber defenders through Project Glasswing. It costs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output. The same week, Apple rebuilt Siri at WWDC26 with onscreen awareness, personal context, and actions across apps. Google’s Gemini 3.5 Live Translate now translates speech across 70+ languages continuously, staying a few seconds behind the speaker. OpenAI confirmed it filed a confidential draft S-1 with the SEC. NVIDIA shipped Nemotron 3 Ultra, a 550-billion-parameter open model it says runs 5x faster than rivals. And Midjourney began inviting users to its first hardware product.
For most people the clearest change is Apple’s: a Siri that can surface a hotel confirmation from an old email, or edit and share a set of photos on request. Google’s translator lets a traveler hold up a phone and follow a foreign tour guide seconds later in their own language. NVIDIA’s open release lets a startup run a frontier-grade model in-house instead of renting one from OpenAI or Anthropic.
The theme this week is that raw capability is no longer the differentiator. Anthropic, Google, and Apple land at similar quality, so the fights are over distribution, safety gating, and money: who lives inside your phone, whose model you can legally run, and who reaches the public markets first.
