Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H round on May 28, valuing the company at $965 billion post-money. That surpasses OpenAI’s $852 billion valuation from March, making Anthropic the most valuable private AI company. The round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, with co-leads including Capital Group, Coatue, and D1 Capital Partners. It includes $15 billion in previously committed cloud-provider investments, $5 billion of that from Amazon. Chip and memory companies Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix joined as strategic infrastructure partners. Anthropic’s run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion in May, up from roughly $4 billion annualized in July 2024. The company also signed compute deals totaling more than 10 gigawatts of capacity across Amazon, Google/Broadcom, and SpaceX.
Anthropic’s valuation jumped from $380 billion in February to $965 billion in three months. Its annualized revenue went from $4 billion to $47 billion in under two years. On June 1, the company confidentially filed for an IPO, potentially beating OpenAI to the public markets. Anthropic expects $10.9 billion in second-quarter revenue and is on pace for its first profitable quarter, according to Bloomberg.
Chip makers joining an AI company’s fundraise is new. Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix investing alongside Sequoia and Blackstone signals that the memory and storage supply chain is aligning directly around the companies consuming the most compute, not just the ones building GPUs. The infrastructure war for AI is now vertical.
