Warp Goes Open Source, Devin Gets a Terminal CLI, Cursor Ships an SDK, and Claude Adds Creative Tool Connectors

In 48 hours, four major agentic platforms made their biggest moves yet. Warp open-sourced its Rust client, Devin launched a terminal CLI, Cursor released a TypeScript SDK, and Anthropic connected Claude to Blender, Adobe, and Ableton.

In a single week at the end of April 2026, four major agentic platforms shipped landmark updates. On April 28, Warp open-sourced its Rust-based client under AGPL v3, with OpenAI as founding sponsor powering agent workflows through GPT models. The same day, Cognition launched Devin for Terminal, a Rust-built CLI that runs locally with multi-model support (Opus 4.7, GPT 5.5, and SWE-1.6) and can hand off long tasks to cloud VMs. On April 29, Cursor released a TypeScript SDK (@cursor/sdk) in public beta, letting developers spin up coding agents from CI/CD pipelines, deploy them to dedicated cloud VMs, and embed Cursor’s agent harness into custom products. Also on April 28, Anthropic announced Claude for Creative Work, adding nine MCP (Model Context Protocol) connectors for Adobe Creative Cloud, Autodesk Fusion, Blender, Ableton, Splice, SketchUp, Affinity by Canva, and Resolume, extending Claude beyond code into 3D modeling, music production, and visual design.

Every major player expanded in a different direction at once. Warp bet on community-driven development through open source, explicitly inviting contributors to manage agent workflows alongside the core team. Devin moved from browser-only to terminal, directly challenging Claude Code and Codex on their home turf. Cursor turned its agent into a programmable API for CI/CD and internal tooling. Anthropic pushed Claude into creative workflows, from 3D modeling to music production, where no competitor has meaningful presence.

Agentic tools are no longer competing on a single axis. The next phase is platform breadth: the winner will be the tool that reaches the most workflows, not just the one with the best code completion. In late April, four companies made that bet on the same two days.
