GPT-6 for Everyone: ChatGPT Answers While It Thinks

OpenAI brought GPT-6 to free and paid ChatGPT and added Intelligent UI, a feature that builds live interfaces like charts, forms, and calculators on the spot. The models also start answering while they keep reasoning, beginning web-search replies 44% sooner in OpenAI’s own tests.

OpenAI brought its GPT-6 generation to everyone who uses ChatGPT, free and paid, and paired it with a feature called Intelligent UI that turns answers into small working apps. Ask for a roast dinner plan and you get a recipe with a guest-count slider that reshuffles the shopping list; ask about retirement savings and it builds a calculator. The interface is drawn from a library of ready-made parts by a compiler that renders it as the model writes, so it fills in rather than appearing all at once. The same update lets ChatGPT start answering while it keeps thinking, interleaving the two instead of leaving a spinner until the reasoning ends. Paid plans got it on October 7, free and Go a day later.

Reasoning models answer harder questions but make you watch them work, an awkward fit for a chat window used by more than 1.2 billion people a week. OpenAI’s own tests put GPT-6 Extra High finishing in the time GPT-5.6 Medium took while scoring above GPT-5.6 Extra High, and starting web-search answers 44% sooner. The models also inherit safety work from GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI’s cybersecurity-rated flagship, and OpenAI says they resist multi-turn jailbreaks better than the versions they replace.

An answer can now be a small tool you operate right in the chat window, assembled on demand rather than fixed in advance. A model that chooses its own layout is a different kind of product from one that prints paragraphs, and speed and readability start to count alongside benchmark scores.
