AI Models Stop Following References After Two Links, and a Tiny Add-On Fixes It

A Georgia Tech study finds pretrained language models reliably follow only about two links in a chain of references, then guess. Training a tiny add-on at one layer, under 0.01% of a model’s weights, lifts Qwen3-8B from 15.5% to 99% accuracy on 24-line chains.
