Anthropic shipped three things on the same day. It raised $65 billion at a $965 billion post-money valuation. It launched Claude Opus 4.8 at the same price as 4.7 ($5 per million input tokens, $25 per million output) but roughly 4x less likely to let bugs in its own code slip past unremarked. And it added dynamic workflows to Claude Code, where Claude writes its own plan and fans hundreds of subagents out in parallel. Bun’s creator Jarred Sumner used it to port his JavaScript runtime from Zig to Rust, around 750,000 lines, in eleven days, with 99.8% of the existing test suite passing. Elsewhere, Microsoft’s MAI-Image-2.5 debuted third on the Arena text-to-image leaderboard, and Perplexity put its Computer agent inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Dynamic workflows are the change worth watching. A codebase migration that would normally scope as a year of contractor hours just became something one developer can kick off before lunch. Anthropic also charged the same money for a smarter model and made fast mode 3x cheaper, which keeps pressure on OpenAI and Google to match. Perplexity inside Microsoft 365 removes the copy-paste step that was the actual bottleneck for office workers using Computer.
The next round of competition isn’t on benchmark scores. It is on how much real work an agent finishes unattended. ElevenLabs shipping Music v2 and Dubbing v2 the same week, and Figure putting humanoid robots into JCPenney and Brooks Brothers stores, fits the same pattern: durable demos giving way to deployed throughput.
