Concat is a free video editor, an alternative to CapCut, for people who cut short videos. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, with iPhone and iPad in beta. You stack clips on a timeline and add titles, animation, background removal and about 100 effects. The project says it uploads nothing, needs no account, adds no watermark and exports up to 4K at 60 frames a second. Captions use Whisper, OpenAI’s speech-to-text model, and voices use open models, two of which clone a voice from a short recording. Each model is a one-time download of 78 MB to 1.1 GB, then works offline, the project says.

Version 0.2.8 added an MCP server, a standard way for AI agents to use a program. Its source defines 45 tools, among them clip_trim, captions_add and export_start, so an agent like Claude Code can cut, preview and export a video. CapCut lists its paid Pro plan at $14 a month, and its help center says some templates and assets add a watermark to free exports. DaVinci Resolve has a free version and sells a paid Studio edition.

Concat is still in beta. Its Windows and macOS builds lack a digital signature, so Windows asks for an extra click on first launch. In a user’s 60-second test, version 0.2.7 placed captions 1.1 to 7.1 seconds early, and the developer says the next release fixes it. An agent cannot edit a project open in the window, and no tool runs the captioning or voice models.
